100% Content Free

There's few things I like better than a Sunday morning with some good coffee and a fresh Harper's magazine. For the last few issues, they've been running a full page ad promoting the fact that their magazine is 100% content free:

Everybody gives you "content." But you'll never find that in Harper's Magazine. Instead, you'll get literature. Investigative reporting. Criticism. Photojournalism. Provocative adventures. Daring commentary. And truth-telling as only Harper's Magazine can tell it. Subscribe today and join the thoughtful, skeptical, witty people just like you who pay for culture, not content.

HARPER'S Proudly "content free" for more than 150 years!

It's interesting how the word "content" has gone from meaning something of substance to a generic term for written words or media (often devoid of any substance). As the among of content (in the internet sense) one is bombarded with continues to grow, I continually wish for more substance and fewer posts, emails, tweets, viral videos, ... which is exactly why the ad resonates so strongly.
